When Compassion Calls, Will You Answer?
What does it mean to truly love your neighbor?
In a powerful message drawn from Luke 10:30–37, Pastor Henry Cotton reflects on Jesus’ parable of the Good Samaritan and challenges believers to put their faith into action.
In the parable, a wounded traveler is left helpless along the road. While a priest and a Levite pass him by, a Samaritan stops, tends to his wounds, and makes sure he receives the care he needs.
The Samaritan does not question the man’s background, circumstances, or ability to repay him. He simply sees someone in need and responds with compassion.
Pastor Cotton challenges us to consider a simple but important question: What if we stopped making excuses and started helping whenever we could?
Helping others does not always require money or extraordinary resources. Sometimes it means offering food, making a phone call, sharing an encouraging word, or simply being present when someone is struggling.
The message reminds us that faith is more than what we believe or say. It is revealed through how we treat others, especially those who cannot offer us anything in return.
Jesus closes the parable with a clear instruction: “Go, and do thou likewise.” (Luke 10:37, KJV)
