Text – John 8:44-47
“You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! 46 Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me? 47 Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.” John 8:42-47 (NIV)
INTRODUCTION –
Sometimes I am amazed over how many professed Believers of the Lord Jesus Christ I hear, and see, who appear to be in utter amazement over the condition and immoral conduct of the people of the world today. Many of us are witnessing things that are happening in the world that we thought would only happen on television or in the movies.
We are seeing mothers and fathers not only pregnating and becoming pregnant by their children, but we are also seeing parents marrying their own child. We see parents choosing not to make a decision to indicate whether their child is male or female; citing that they will let the child determine that when THEY are ready. We are seeing so many open displays of Satanic and Demonic behaviors by so many people in society that these immoral and ungodly behaviors are just about considered to be “normal.”
I haven’t even mentioned the things that are happening in the world that have been prophesized to happen, the prophecies that have already happened, and the prophecies that are being fulfilled now just as they are prophesied in the Holy Bible that they would. Some might say that with all of this going on, it is no wonder that the Believers are amazed. I contend that the amazement should only be the initial realization of the event or behavior; as for the event actually happening, if it is stated in the Bible, why should any of us be amazed?
I can point out so many atrocities that the people of the world are committing today which go against the word and will of God and are leaving so many Believers in utter amazement, but I am only going to stick to what is noted in our text for today as we talk around the subject:
“WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM THE WORLD?”
POINTS –
- “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires.” (v.44) – Not being “Born again,” the people could not understand what Jesus was saying to them. They were about what the Devil was about and to what the Devil was teaching them.
- “He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him.” (v. 44) – Jesus is pointing out what the Devil has been and who the Devil still is today).
- “When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” (v.44) – Speaking lies is the natural thing for the Devil to do. He is nothing but a liar and the originator of lies.
CONCLUSION –
“Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”
Beloved ones, we are watching people believe that the unchristian and ungodly conduct being exemplified by so many people today is acceptable behavior. It is almost to the point where these atrocities aga
inst the word of God are becoming the norm! This should not be shocking to the people of God, because the people of God hear what the word of God is saying. It hears where the word of God speaks out against these atrocities. It hears where the word of God warns the people of God to come out from among those who follow the Devil. It hears where the word of God is telling the people of God to go out and let the people of the world know that they must be born again.
It hears where the word of God is telling the people of God that they are to go out into the world like sheep among wolves, but not to worry because The LORD goes with them. The people of God are not amazed over the conduct of the people of the world because the people of God expect for the people of the world to act as they do; we expect for them to do whatever is contrary to the way, will, and word of God because they do not belong to GOD! (Expound and conclude).
