I am your host Brother Henry Cotton, Jr. and I am also the Pastor of the SJMBC. Welcome to our Podcast. The topic for our Podcast today is:
“HOW IMPORTANT IS THE WORD OF GOD TO YOU WHEN IT COMES TO . . . ENTERING THE KINGDOM OF GOD?
“Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” Matthew 19:24
When we picture a sewing needle, and I don’t care what size needle is being used, there is no way a camel is going to get through it. As a matter-of-fact, there is no way a man is going to get through it either. This verse also makes me wonder why the Lord used a camel to emphasize the point?!
Already having the impossible task of the camel entering the eye of a needle presented to us, the Lord also states the impossibility of a rich man also being able to get through the eye of a needle. This still had me bewildered because Job was a rich man.
All of this makes me think that in order for man to get to the place where GOD resides; something very miraculous would have to take place:
“Who then can be saved?” 26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:25-26 (NIV)
We are going to find out that the entrance we are required to come through would be impossible for anyone to get through, and impossible to bring anything else! But only through the death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ are we now able to enter into the Kingdom of GOD!
“If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?” 1 Peter 4:18 (NIV)
“Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” John 3:3 (NIV)
