Have You Truly Offered Yourself to God?
Many Christians regularly praise and worship the Lord. But have we considered what it truly means to serve Him?
In this Sunday sermon from St. James Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Henry Cotton challenges believers to move beyond words of praise and consider their personal commitment to serving God.
Drawing from Joshua 24:15, Pastor Cotton reflects on Joshua’s declaration:
“But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
These words remind us that serving God requires more than acknowledging His goodness. It involves commitment, leadership, and a willingness to put our faith into action.
Serving God Requires Action
Pastor Cotton explains the important distinction between praising, worshiping, and serving the Lord.
While praise and worship express our devotion, service calls us to offer our time, abilities, and talents for God’s purposes.
Through Romans 12:1, he reminds believers that presenting ourselves as living sacrifices is part of our reasonable service to God.
Pastor Cotton also emphasizes the responsibility of spiritual leadership within the household, the importance of teaching future generations to serve, and the distinction between personally accepting salvation and committing ourselves to God’s service.
His message invites each of us to consider a simple but meaningful question:
“Lord, how can I be of service to You?”
