“HOW IMPORTANT IS THE WORD OF GOD TO YOU WHEN IT COMES TO . . . PRIDE?”
I don’t think that many people understand the destructive force that pride can be. Many relationships have been and are being destroyed because of pride. Let us examine just a few passages of scripture that deal with the issue of pride:
“Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.” Genesis 2:25 (NIV)
“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.” Proverbs 11:2 (NIV)
“When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.” Proverbs 11:2 (KJV)
“If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves. 4 Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else” Galatians 6:3-4 (NIV)
“For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.” 1 John 2:16 (NIV)
“Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 1:31 (NIV)
I believe that this verse does indeed sum it all up .
