I am your host Brother Henry Cotton, Jr. and I am also the Pastor of the SJMBC. Welcome to our Podcast. The topic for our Podcast today is:
“HOW IMPORTANT IS THE WORD OF GOD TO YOU WHEN IT COMES TO . . . YOUNG PEOPLE IN MINISTRY!”
There are still a lot of people who believe that when it comes to ministry, young people are not equipped to minister to people successfully; especially to older people. Many people think that young people are only able to reach other young people because they speak the same language and can relate to each other. Isn’t it good to know that the word of God doesn’t teach that same type of closed minded thinking?
Matter-of-fact, there are some passages of scripture that shows us that the Lord definitely has a vital role for young people in His plans for these last days . . .
- “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12 (NIV)
The Lord is showing that He is confident that young people can govern themselves in such a manner that:
- Their SPEECH is godly.
- The way they conduct themselves is godly.
- The way they show love to others is godly.
- The way they express their faith is godly.
- The way they exhibit their belief in the word of the LORD is genuine and scriptural.
These are definitely the “Last Days,” we are living in, and despite all of the many false teachers, preachers, pastors, and prophets being exposed all over the world, the word of God (The Holy Bible) assures us that the Lord will not only have TRUE teachers, preachers, pastors, and prophets spreading the Gospel, but young people will play vital roles as well:
“And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.” Joel 2:28 (NIV)
“In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. 18 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.” Acts 2:17-18 (NIV)
The events of these last days are so serious that GOD had Joel write about them in the Old Testament, and then had Luke write about what Peter spoke to the people of his day about what is going to happen during the last days again in the New Testament!
