“HOW IMPORTANT IS THE WORD OF GOD TO YOU WHEN IT COMES TO . . . 

PRAYING FOR OUR PRESIDENT TO BE OUT OF OFFICE?”

When Donald Trump became President of the United States, there were a number of professed Christians who said that they wanted him out of office. Maybe that was the right thing to pray for . . . or maybe not! As we are witnessing, he made it to another term. Maybe some of us need to re-think about what is motivating our prayers:

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people.” 1 Timothy 2:1-6 (NIV)

“Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.” Proverbs 11:14 (KJV)

“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.” Matthew 5:44-45 (KJV)

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.”  Matthew 24:35 (NIV)

“Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.”  Mark 13:31 (KJV)

Unless we know for sure that those who are in authority over us are persecuting us and/or should not be in that position, is it not our duty (according to the word of GOD) to at least pray for them as we would an enemy? Did not the LORD use Pharaoh and Pilate as part of HIS plan?
