“HOW IMPORTANT IS THE WORD OF GOD TO YOU WHEN IT COMES TO . . . ANGELS AND HOW MUCH POWER DO THEY HAVE?”
Many people who still believe in Angels, believe that they all have the same powers. What we find in the Holy Bible is that GOD has different angels performing different tasks. It is similar to how the body works: who can say which body part is more important than the other? It appears that the LORD has the Angels operating in the same manner. Here are just a handful of examples of the kind of power the Angels have:
- They have been delegated power to become visible and to even take on human form. –Genesis 19: 1,5; Psalm 104:4; Hebrews 1:13-14
- Their power is incomprehensible: “35 That night the angel of the Lord went out and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning—there were all the dead bodies! “ 2 Kings 19:35;
“And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.” Revelation 18: 1 (KJV)
“21 Then a mighty angel picked up a boulder the size of a large millstone and threw it into the sea, and said: “With such violence the great city of Babylon will be thrown down, never to be found again.” Revelation 18: 1,21 (NIV)
- They cannot die. – Luke 20:34-36
- They do the Lord’s will, and they do what the Lord commands: – “Bless the Lord, ye his angels that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word. 21 Bless ye the Lord, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his that do his pleasure.” Psalm 103:20-21
- They fight in heaven and earth (Physically): – “ 7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels . . .” Revelation 12:7-17
- They help execute the Lord’s plan – 1 Peter 1:12
- They guard gates: “So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. “ Genesis 3:24
“It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates.“ Revelation 21:12A
- They minister in the presence of God: “2 And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them. “ Revelation 8:2 (NIV) 14:15-19
- He bound Satan and guarded the bottomless pit where he was casts: Revelation 9:1; 20:1-3
- They shall accompany Jesus to earth: Matthew 16:27; 25:31; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10
- They carry away departed spirits: “22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom. “ Luke 16:22A
- They bring answers to prayer: Daniel 9:21-23; Acts 10
