St James Missionary Baptist Church Wednesday Night Bible Study 2/19/2025
Question: “Lord, I think that what I do is good enough; what do you think?”
“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.” Ecclesiastes 9:10 (NIV)
“Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.” Ecclesiastes 9:10 (KJV)
The writer is saying to us that whatever we undertake to do, do it to the best of your ability because when this life is over there will be no second chance.
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” Romans 12:1 (NIV)
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” Romans 12:1 (KJV)
The writer is reminding us that offering oneself to the Lord in total obeisance should not only be the duty of man, but it is the least we can when it comes to expressing our sincere worship to the Lord (expound).
“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:17 (NIV)
“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” Colossians 3:17 (KJV)
The writer is letting us know that whether it be in speech or actions, we need to do remember that we are Ambassadors of the Lord Jesus Christ, and we ought thank God that we are able to do what we do through the His Son! (Expound)
So let us also keep Romans 12:1-8 in mind (especially verse 3).
