QUESTION – “HOW IMPORTANT IS YOUR BIBLE TO YOU?” Part Two: FAITH
INTRODUCTION –
We continue in our series LOOKING AT THE ISSUE OF “Faith!” In the past we have discussed the issues of:
1. Strong Faith 2. Weak Faith 3. More Faith 4. Little Faith
But now we want to look at what it means to obtain faith.
“For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “’The righteous will live by faith.’” Romans 1:17
“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” 16
But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?” 17 consequently*,
faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” Romans 10:14-17
*Unbelievers will not only be saved, but they will know that believing in the Lord Jesus Christ is where their faith will begin and end (Hebrews 12:2A)
POINTS
- “For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed.” (v. 1A) – Paul is clear about letting us know that if we want to know about GOD’s righteousness, we need to look in the word of GOD, for it is in the good news (Holy Bible) where one will find out how to live righteously (expound).
- “A righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “’The righteous will live by faith.” (v. 1B) – When looking in the Bible, one will find that those who are Believers are also called righteous, and therefore are expected to live by faith (expound).
CONCLUSION
“Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” (Romans 10:17) – Paul is letting us know that if one wants to know Faith, they will recognize and obtain “Faith” from hearing it through the gospel (Good News). This “Good News” is about JESUS CHRIST, and it is found in the Holy Bible! They will know that it is not “LUCK, ‘SOMETHING’ or THE UNIVERSE.” (Expound).
If Believers need to be assured and re-assured about their faith, they will find that assurance in the word of GOD. But just as important, if Believers are to lead others to Christ, they will find the message in the word of GOD, and this message will let them know that their salvation will begin and end with Jesus Christ.
