INTRODUCTION –

Welcome to the St. James Missionary Baptist Church’s (SJMBC) first Podcast. I am your host and Pastor of the SJMBC: H. S. Cotton, Jr. Because we are not able to physically meet in our building, we are grateful to the Lord that we are able to meet through the use of technology and social media.

This podcast is not a whim, but it is a very necessary and integral part of the SJMBC ministry as we continue to do our part to “GO OUT AND TEACH ALL NATIONS!”

Besides taking solitude, praying and meditating in the Spirit, Believers are getting their directives from the LORD by means of the HOLY BIBLE . . . GOD”S WORD! With there being so  many ways to obtain information today, want to be a Podcast that wants people to know that the word of God (the Holy Bible) is always going to be the source and final authority of what we discuss here, because the Holy Bible is the ONLY “Absolute Truth” that we believe in.

If you want to talk and have a place where you can hear, and see, pertinent issues (and that might just mean pertinent to YOU!) discussed from the Holy Bible’s viewpoint; this is the place you will want to be.

There are many passages of scripture found in the Word of GOD (Holy Bible) that will remind us of how important and necessary the word of God should be to man; and especially to those who are Believers and Followers of the Lord Jesus Christ. These are just a few examples:

  • Psalm 119:9, 13 (NIV)
9 How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word.”
13 With my lips I recount all the laws that COME FROM YOUR MOUTH.
  • Psalm 119:105 (KJV)105 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
  • JOHN 1:1-5, 14 (NIV) – In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome[a] it.

14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

  • John 5:39-40 (NIV) 39 You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, 40 yet you refuse to come to me to have life.
  • Romans 1:17 (NIV) – 17 “For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”
  • Romans 10:17 (NIV) – 17 “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
  • 2 Timothy 3:16 (NIV)16 “ALL SCRIPTURE IS GOD-BREATHED and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

These are just a handful of scriptures that show us the collaboration between the LORD and His word and why we can refer to them interchangeably. Again, we look forward to discussing these scriptures and many more. Thank you!
