GOOD MORNING BELOVED!
Welcome to another edition of the SJMBC Podcast:
“HOW IMPORTANT IS THE WORD OF GOD TO YOU
WHEN IT COMES TO . . . ?”
I am your host Brother Henry Cotton, Jr. and I am also the Pastor of the SJMBC. Welcome to our Podcast. The topic for our Podcast today is:
“HOW IMPORTANT IS THE WORD OF GOD TO YOU WHEN IT COMES TO . . . BEING REMEMBERED?”
Some of you know the feeling of having someone, or maybe even yourself, being in a situation where you do not remember family and friends that you see all the time. Some of you suffer, or have someone you know and love, suffering from Alzheimer Disease or some other form of Dementia. The ripple effects of these diseases can be devastating (expound).
Not being able to remember those we love can hurt very deeply. This sometimes makes me wonder why two people who had an opportunity to ask the LORD for anything, only asked that the Lord “Remembers” them. How important is remembering or being remembered to you (expound)? Allow me to share a couple of passages of scripture with you and tell me what you think:
“In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, “This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.” Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, “REMEMBER, LORD, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.” Isaiah 38:1-3 (NIV)
“One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!” But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, REMEMBER ME when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”” Luke 23:39-43 (NIV)
There are a lot more elements to remembering and being remembered than we normally think about. I dare say we take remembering for granted . . . until we DON’T! Maybe when we think about how we remember someone, or how we would like to be remembered will cause us to conduct ourselves differently than the way we do now . . . for the BETTER!
